I've been fascinated with animation my whole life! I was even lucky enough to attend a Pixar workshop in Vancouver back in 2014. The interest grew and grew and grew, and when COVID hit, the amount of time we all had off from work and other responsibilities finally gave me a chance to start my journey into this amazing and detailed artform.

I'm still learning, but I'm happy you can join this journey with me.
The Journey starts with a photo I took on my phone while on a camping trip with some friends and my boyfriend. I've always wanted to learn how to make a parallax animation, so I figure this would be the perfect shot for it.

The first edit didn't quite go as planned so I hopped over into After Effects to try again, and learned it can create an extremely detailed animation. The only problem was that I was editing on a 2011 Mac book and it took me about 12 hours to finish this 10 second clip. Don't worry though, I've learned my lesson about graphics processing and rendering since.

Here is the timelapse of all of the editing I hyper focused on for about 15 hours total!

Now that I had dipped my toes into After Effects, I felt comfortable enough to try a logo! I found a great lesson by Christopher George on Skillshare, and got to work. This project was so fun and I had a blast the whole time.
This was the scariest and most challenging part of the journey so far...

The Dreaded Blender Donut

This might've been one of the hardest lessons I've ever done in editing, but after 24 hours of struggling to understand shortcuts, how to move a 3d object in a 3d space, lighting, texture, and of course rendering...
I finally finished!

My eyes were bloodshot, my back was strained and I was the most emotionally drained I've ever been, but it was finally done!

I had tackled the donut

I was so proud of myself I just stared into space, baffled and exhausted. I had completed something I still don't really understand, and I had learned so much from, I still wanted to keep going with this journey.
Alas, there's still more to this donut to learn, but I figured I'd give myself a break, a couple chiropractor appointments and  some eyedrops before I begin the next stage of the render.
